Brunton Architects & Engineers teamed with Adolfson and Peterson Construction on the design and construction of a new facility for the McLeod Power Cooperative in Glencoe, MN. The 55,000 s.f. facility includes an 11,900 s.f. office, 42,700 s.f. garage area and a 6,820 s.f. mezzanine, storage and mechanical area.
The office portion of the project includes a large, welcoming lobby and waiting area with extensive daylighting to welcome guests, multiple conference rooms for staff and customers, offices, a 1,175 s.f. training/board room, men’s and women’s locker rooms, kitchen and break area, and ample storage areas.
The garage portion of the facility includes parking areas, a large wash bay area for washing vehicles, storage space for racking and shelving of materials, multiple clerestory windows to allow for natural lighting, a mud room and janitorial area for employees, and a large storage mezzanine which also includes a large mechanical and plumbing equipment room.
The exterior of the building includes ample parking and a large secure pole yard for storing materials. The entire building is also equipped to be powered by an emergency generator in the case of a power outage. By efficiently consolidating all of the resources in the facility, the Co-op will be able to improve response times in emergency situations.
